The patterns are shaped, sealed and ready for mold making
Resin Shrouds fit in the areas.
My patterns are sort of like boat hulls - a series of ribs with a skin. A pair fiberboard baseboards was placed in the sculpture and registered with marks for future alignment. End lines and a line for the bulb shape were drawn on each baseboard. The ribs are cut and glued to the baseboard. Strips of glass mesh cover the ribs. A paint coat of White Hydrocal stiffens the structure for future buildup.
Applying the glass and sparkles to inner mold surface
Glass complete. Inner & outer mold sections assembled & ready for pouring.
Pattern on a pattern board and first outer mold with plaster backer shell.
