Greatly magnified cedar needle graphics surrounded by dichroic glass dots are embedded in the step-off areas.  This treatment honors the ancient cedar forest, growing in the coastal fog zone.  Balustrade components are installed as benches.  Negative space between the balusters is in shape of cedar tree canopy.
