Tempe Garden Club 2008 & Butterflys  Adapted and installed at McClintock Station

Butterflies always attract attention and are welcomed as subjects of art work.   Their beauty is not their only asset.  They are also pollinators.  Now that bees are disappearing for no known definitive reason from their hives-. , "-

(there are no dead bees found at the hives)-- butterflies are even more important as pollinators

I am a member of the Tempe Garden Club and past officer/president.

While officer in a matter of two or three years we gathered $20,000 dollars to donate to the  City's TCA  ('Tempe Center of the Arts).

The people in charge of the TCA used the money to build a structure-- Garden pavilion.   The architects used colored glass to create a roof  on the structure that visioned the Arizona State Butterfly

(the Two -tailed Swallowtail--Papilio multicaudata)

To give the story more depth you should know that the Tempe Garden Club was instrumental in putting over a project I called, " Butterfly Quest. "

The goal was to select a butterfly to represent the State insect/butterfly.  I was the developer of the plan to select the butterfly and to present a legislative bill

to the State Legislature for the Governor to sign.  This is just one project  that represents the involvement of theTempe Garden Club that partners with not

only the community but the State of Arizona.
